Mira Kamiunten (上(かみ)運(うん)天(てん) 美羅( みら), Kamiunten Mira) is the Anti-Demon Corps' 2nd Unit Chief.

Appearance

Mira is a tall, well-endowed young woman with orange eyes and long dark yellow hair that appears to reach her back, as well as seeming spikier near the end, with three black lightning bolt lines on the sides of her hair.

As the 2nd Unit Chief, she is often dressed in her Anti-Demon Corps uniform, which consists of a navy blue militia long coat, a cap with red highlights, white gloves, long baggier pants, calf-high boots. Uniquely, Mira wears her coat opened up with her stomach and breast being bound using white wrappings. She also wears earrings and a black collar around her neck.

Personality

At first, Mira comes off as aggressive, vulgar, cold-blooded and belligerent, cursing whilst confronting fellow colleagues such as Kyouka, who is a rival for the Commander's seat. It is often noted, as the two stand face-to-face before one another, that she likes teasing Kyouka and calls it "fighting", even pressing their breasts against each other during a lot of their conversations.

Despite the fact that she looks like a delinquent, she is kind and generous in her own way, such as waiting for Kyouka so that she could congratulate her on getting her revenge on the One-Horned Shuuki, then fixing Yuuki's shoelace and posture before heading into the meeting.

As a gang leader, Mira has a deep sense of camaraderie, noticing that Kyouka and Tenka were hiding something during the meeting to the point of willingly offer help at any time of their choosing. Mira is also stubborn and strong-willed, unwilling to back down in the face of danger. As a testament to this, she was even able to briefly take control one of Kuusetsu's clones after being absorbed by her.

However her camaraderie is limited to women, whereas she showed no shame in entering the same shower as Kyouka and offering to wash her back; the opposite occurs when Yuuki ended up seeing her half-naked. It was shown again after Mira witnesses Kyouka giving Yuuki his reward and becomes extremely flustered.

She has a hobby of watching animal videos that she shares with the Head Commander Ren Yamishiro and the two get along quite well.

Background

Prior to joining the Anti-Demon Corps, Mira was very powerful and respected gang leader who was undefeated in Okinawa. During this time, Mira also met Megumi Zaha who became one of her most devout followers. Eventually, Mira encountered Kyouka Uzen who became the first person ever to defeat her. Mira formed a fierce rivalry with Kyouka and the two joined the Anti-Demon Corps shortly afterwards.

Powers and Abilities

Overview

Like many women before her, Mira gained a unique power having devoured one of the peaches from Mato. As one of the Anti-Demon Corps' Chiefs, she is more powerful than normal Demon Hunters and as such is one of the strongest women in the organization. Befitting the 2nd Unit Chief, she has supreme authority over the 2nd Unit. As testament to her strength, she was capable of defeating a Shuuki horde in the same amount of time it took Yuuki to transform into a Slave. Kuusetsu acknowledged that, had she not exhausted her energy with clones to save citizens, Mira would have been strong enough to kill her.

Peach Blessing

All-Killing (緋色の連隊(オールキリング), Ōru Kiringu, lit. "Scarlet Regiment"): Mira is able to produce dozens of clones of herself made of air, Kyouka has stated these clones are just as powerful as Mira, though they can only take one hit before disappearing. With the help of her Vice Chief's peach blessing that increases her strength, she makes use of this along with her clones and almost defeating a Thunder God.

• Roar (無窮の鎖(スレイブ)・爆(ばく)音(おん), Sureibu: Bakuon, lit. "Eternal Chain: Explosive Sound): The Slave Form, which Yuuki assumes after Mira, acting as his Master becomes a motorcycle. In this form Yuuki is able to coast the ground at high speed, emit loud sounds which forces Shuuki to come to the surface, and blast a fire attack that immolates anything it touches. Yuuki is also quite durable in this form as he can physically mow through Shuuki at high speed without taking any damage.

Physical Abilities

Enhanced Strength: Through intense training, Mira has possessed physical strength above the average person, dealing blows strong enough to injure Shuuki. Mira was strong enough to destroy a wall with a single kick. With her strength enhanced by her Vice Chief along with her peach blessing ability, she can take on Kuusetsu by herself and deal significant damage.

Enhanced Agility and Reflexes: Mira's speed and reflexes has allowed her to dodge attacks from a massive Shuuki and catch Kuusetsu's feather shots mid-air, in addition to keeping up with her attacks. She also has a great sense of balance even when being thrown around mid air, she can backflip herself up upon landing or use her clone to propel herself at high speed. She can also deal bombardment of punches to defeat a Thunder God.

Enhanced Durability: Mira has shown to be tough. Capable of withstanding a direct punch from a transformed Kuusetsu and just coughing up a few drops of blood.

Enhanced Endurance: Mira has shown to be very resilient. Even using most of her energy saving the people in her area while fighting against Kuusetsu and getting injured in the process, she still managed to squeeze out every ounce of her power to have almost killed the Thunder God.

Master Martial Artist: Mira is capable of dealing powerful punches and kicks to instantly defeat several Shuuki. With her enhanced strength, courtesy from her Vice Chief's peach blessing, she is lethal enough to injure a Thunder God like Kuusetsu.

Trivia

• Her first name Mi (美) means "Beautiful" and ra (羅) means "Lightweight Fabric", meaning "Beautiful Lightweight Fabric".
  • Her surname Kami (上) means "above, top, upper", un (運) means "luck, fortune" and ten (天) means "heaven", meaning "Good Luck Heaven".
• Mira appears to be a Sukeban (助番(スケバン), Sukeban, lit. "Delinquent Girl").
• Despite of her personality, her unit loves her
• Mira shares her dog videos with Ren, she also prefers music that rocks.
• Mira's parents are young Awamori brewers, she also has a good relationship with her younger sister who still a student.
• Since the 2nd unit doesn't have a dedicated caretaker, so they take shifts, including Mira.
• When giving her reward to Yuuki, Mira's hand slides off her humvee's window. This is a reference to a scene from the 1997 film Titanic, depicting Rose and Jack have intercourse in a car, during which Rose's hand slides off a fogged window.
• In the "Chief Intel" Section:
  1. How she joined the Mato Defense Corps: She was scouted. Some of her former group members also enlisted (like Megumi) as a consequence.
  2. What she meant in Volume 6 when she said Riu could "still dance": That Riu was still more than capable of being in active duty, not that her ability had anything to do with dancing.
  3. Favorite drinks: Awamori, and Shochu. (She's already old enough to drink). She gets flushed quickly, but otherwise holds her liquor.
  4. Clones' Trait: They disappear if they take a set amount of damage.
  5. At a Chief's yakiniku party: She earnly cooks and distributes meat to everyone.
