Fubuki Azuma (東(あずま)風舞希(ふぶき), Azuma Fubuki) is a member of the Anti-Demon Corps and is the 9th Unit's Chief. She is the mother of several daughters such as Yachiho and Himari Azuma. Winning against her youngest daughter during the Azuma Banquet to decide the new Azuma Family Leader, Fubuki was the victor, thus succeeding her mother.

Appearance

Fubuki is a gorgeous and buxom woman with dark blue eyes and long dark blue hair that has a single braid rolled around the back of her head.

She is often dressed in the usual Anti-Demon Corps uniform with her chest partly visible, a pelvic curtain, thigh boots, and long whitegloves.

Personality

From her first appearance, she is shown to be a calm, respectful and ambitious woman, holding a great deal of pride in the Azuma Household as she had desired the Commanders' seat simply because multiple members of her family once held the position of Commander.

As a perfectionist, Fubuki is rather critical about results, praising all her oldest daughters for their talents and feats as Demon Hunters and criticizing her youngest daughter who she views as a failure for not matching her older sisters.

Whenever Himari is worried, Fubuki has no maternal feelings towards her daughter (however it turns out that in reality Fubuki's coldness towards Himari is only a facade as she loves her daughter very much) going so far as to state that the he would even "bring down" if he continued to drag their family name into the land, a threat Himari knew was genuine.

Although Fubuki is very strict, deep down Fubuki cared for her family, as she was aware of how harmful Toberas' method was towards the younger generations of their family. After becoming the new head of the family, she Fubuki stated that she will use love in managing the members of both branches and the main member of their clan by fully showing her sweet side of her to others.

Despite performing risqué activities with Yuuki (as a part of her rewarding duties) ranging from massages, smooches, being nearly undraped, to feeding him honey from her breasts; Fubuki maintains her usual calm, if not a softer expression, granting him a reward properly and encouraging her youngest daughter to do the same. She got her boldness from her mother.

Background

Fubuki hails from the Azuma Family, who became successful in the Demon Corps, then at some point, she married a man and had three daughters.

Powers and Abilities

Overview

Like all other women, Fubuki attained a unique power having devoured one of the peaches from Mato. As one of the Anti-Demon Corps' Chiefs, she is much more powerful than normal Demon Hunters and as such is one of the strongest women in the organization. Befitting the 9th Unit Chief, Fubuki has the highest authority among the 9th Unit. A testament to her strength, she was capable of defeating a Shuuki horde in the same amount of time that it took Yuuki to transform into a Slave. Fubuki is also a highly intelligent fighter as she pointed out how Yuuki and Kyouka were vulnerable while switching forms by seizing Yuuki's chain during their sparring in Shangri-La.

Against Himari and Yuuki in "Whirlwind: Sky", Fubuki used simply 10% power to overpower both of them in two different fights, stating that a Vice-Chief's strength is worth 30% of hers.

Peach Blessing

Sunset (太陽を穿つ槍(サンセット), Sansetto, lit. "Sun-Piercing Spear"): Fubuki's Peach Blessing, which allows her to summon a Yari spear out of thin air that has a symbol resembling the sun on the spearhead capable of extending and retracting at will. After hearing about and seeing it for the first time, Yuuki described it was simple yet strong. She is noted to have full control over Sunset's power, using whatever percent she requires to fight against her opponent. It is said that the longer her spear gets, the stronger her body.

• Man-Spring (無窮の鎖(スレイブ)・肉(にく)弾(はずみ), Sureibu: Niku Hazumi, lit. "Eternal Chain: Meat Bullet): The Slave Form, which Yuuki assumes after Fubuki, acted as his Master, causing him to assume a burlier and bulkier form, where he has elastic limbs, allowing him to build up more momentum for attacks, and makes him nigh-invulnerable when it comes to blunt attacks.

Physical Abilities

Master Spearwoman: Fubuki is a masterful spear wielder, capable of using precise and fast strikes with subtle motions; to the point that Yuuki almost couldn't handle them in his "Whirlwind: Sky" before overpowering him, all while still holding back. A single swipe from Sunset handling multiple missiles, using at most 10% power, instead of spinning it to defend.

Bodywork Intuition: She has a deep understanding of bodywork, performing a massage that reinvigorated Yuuki, who was still recovering from the aftereffects of using Killer Fang. It is pointed out that she can gain a deep understanding of a person's entire musculature from touching them.

Immense Strength: While only utilizing a small portion of power from Sunset, Fubuki can still deliver devastating blows that can easily defeat Yuuki in his Slave Form meanwhile dealing damage to the surroundings.

Enhanced Agility and Reflexes: While the full extent of her mobility is still unseen, Fubuki has shown incredible reflexes, almost to the point of being able to defend from most types of attacks and ambush. She can instantaneously unleash multiple thrusts from her spear to overwhelm her opponent. She is able to outrun Tenka's space portals with ease.

Trivia

• Her name Fu (風) means "wind, breeze", bu (舞) means "dance" and ki (希) means "hope", meaning "Hopeful Wind Dance".
• Her surname Azuma (東) means "East". As such, her full name can mean "Hopeful Wind Dance of the East".
• After meeting Yuuki, Fubuki stated that she at least wanted to have one son like him, while saying he was cute.
• Fubuki is not very talkative.
• Her favorite dish is Udon and Yaki Udon.
• Members of the 9th Unit have said she smells good.
• Fubuki's initial hair color was shown to be dark green. Later illustrations of her hair have revealed it to be dark blue.
• Just like with her hair color, the first illustrations of her eyes were different than the current color, being yellow before being changed to dark blue and matching her hair.
• In the "Chief Intel" Section:
  1. Dislikes: Using machines. Maia is much more capable at using phones or SNS.
  2. Has her daughter Yachiho skipped grades: She has. She skipped her high school and university years through a Mato-affiliated university and then graduated. Many Azuma Chiefs and Vice-Chiefs skip grades.
  3. Her relationship with her mother: Fubuki's always being ordered to massage her shoulders and her hips, but Fubuki doesn't dislike it. Sometimes, she even does it voluntarily.
  4. Her body's secret: The results of her physical exams always come out normal. Her strength is still increasing.
  5. Worries: Maia, Yachiho, and Himari all have their weaknesses that she wishes for them to overcome.
• The author, Takahiro's reward focus puts an emphasis on her position as a mother. The reward given together with her daughter, Himari. She supports the embarrassed Yuuki with her broad-mindedness.
• So far, no information has been revealed about her potential partner throughout the manga.
