Path (道, Michi) is the ninety-fourth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
As Yuuki Wakura, Kyouka Uzen, and Riu Myouga fight off the attaching Shuuki, Yumeji Shimomura gives the seemingly defeated Konomi Tatara a chance to survive by becoming a servant of the Eight Thunder Gods, but she flatly refuses. Yumeji then explains how she worked hard to become Commander while in the Anti-Demon Corps, but ultimately lost her power after working her subordinates ragged and getting into a conflict with Kyouka. However, she was elated when a God appeared before her and gave her immense power. Yumeji offers it to Konomi one last time, Konomi insists that she wishes to travel the path of martial arts, step by step. Yumeji then rushes towards Konomi, intending to kill her.
Before Yumeji can reach her, Konomi activates her Beast Power's Scorpion technique and delivers a series of kick that unleash powerful waves of energy, driving Yumeji back. Yumeji attempts to counter with a blast of telekinesis, but Konomi dodges it, having seen through her moves. Konomi then attacks with her Red Needle Legs technique, which shatters Yumeji's khakkhara staff. Konomi then shifts to her Snake technique and uses her Snake Heavy Whip attack, releasing a flurry of blows that Yumeji is forced to endure. Yumeji believes she can grasp the rhythm of Konomi's attacks based on the animal she uses, but Konomi surprises her when she copies Yuuki's Slave form. Yumeji dodges by leaping into the air, believing she can attack with her telekinesis from above. However, Konomi again surprises her by taking flight and attacking her with her Pterosaur technique.
Meanwhile, Riu considers the potential of Konomi's power as she can switch between beasts seamlessly. She notes that she was concerned about Konomi using only favorite technique, Tiger, but was glad that Konomi chose to start using other animals.
On the cusp of defeat, Yumeji furiously unleashes all of her power and transforms into her hybrid Shuuki form. Konomi attacks Yumeji with her Monkey technique, but Yumeji takes the attack and counters with a devastating hit to Konomi. Yumeji declares that Konomi base strength will no longer suffice and that her youth makes her immature. Kyouka then tells Konomi to grab Yuuki's chain, believing she may be able to break through the barrier depending on the form Slave takes. Konomi complies, grabs Yuuki's chain, and he begins to transform.
