The First Unit (一番組, Ichi Bangumi) is the eighty-ninth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
Kyouka Uzen gathers the rest of the 7th Unit and informs them that, due to the increasing strength of the Eight Thunder Gods and unique Shuuki, they will be going to the 1st Unit for a joint training session to get stronger.
Later, at the 1st Unit, while Kyouka, Himari Azuma, Shushu Suruga, and Nei Ookawamura are changing clothes, they remark on how the 1st Unit is the only dorm that has a dojo and how Riu Myouga is so strong despite her advanced age. Once they are all dressed in karate gi and prepared for training, Kyouka recalls her own intense training with Riu.
Meanwhile, Yuuki Wakura explores the outside of the dorm and observes how clean it is. He then observes the arrival of Konomi Tatara who is dressed in a school uniform and has her hair down. After displaying some martial arts techniques, Konomi puts her hair up having "switched gears". Yuuki asks Konomi if she has returned from school, which she confirms and explains that she performs her Chief duties after school. Riu arrives and Yuuki formally states that he will be in her care, but she brushes him off explaining that she will be observing the 7th Unit while he goes on patrol with Konomi. As Yuuki departs with Konomi, Riu contemplates how Tobera Azuma has taken an interest in him and wonders if he really is as valuable as he seems.
After Konomi changes into her uniform, she and Yuuki have a formal greeting. Yuuki tells her she does not have to be so polite with him, but Konomi contends that he is older than her and a subordinate of her fellow disciple Kyouka. Even so, Yuuki explains that he feels out of with such politeness and Konomi agrees to his request, stating that he does not need to be formal with her either.
The two head out, patrolling Mato on foot and Yuuki just manages to keep up with Konomi. While taking a water break, Yuuki and Konomi are suddenly attacked by a group of Shuuki. Konomi activates her Peach blessing Beast Power, which gives her the ability to slash through the Shuuki and destroy them with ease. Once the Shuuki are defeated, Konomi explains to Yuuki that she uses her own martial arts that uses Xing Yi Quan as a base. Impressed by her moves, Yuuki considers using such techniques in his Slave form.
Meanwhile, at the Thunder Gods' base, Yumeji Shimomura, former 7th Unit Chief, looks up Konomi on an electronic tablet, identifying her as her target. She is pleased as it will serve as revenge for Kuusetsu and since she is a fellow pupil of Kyouka.
