Gathering of Gods (神議, Kamuhakari) is the eighty-sixth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
Shikoku and Jouryuu arrive at the Eight Thunder Gods' hideout, where they are greeted by Jaku'un, the youngest Thunder God, who informs them that all the Thunder Gods are now present. Shikoku asks Jaku'un how is his research is going, and he replies that it is going well despite interference from the Anti-Demon Corps.
The three enter the hideout where the are met by Rairen and Yumeji Shimomura, the former of whom is irritated by their tardiness. Suddenly, Jouryuu is attacked by Thunder God Naruhime, but she manages to block her. Naruhime acknowledges that Jouryuu's sadness has not dulled her sense, but Jouryuu retorts that, on the contrary, her anger has made her stronger. Naruhime commends her, stating that is how a Thunder God should be. Thunder God Fukuma then arrives, observing that Shikoku seems to be the most despondent. Shikoku clarifies that she is frustrated as she should not have let Kuusetsu go alone, but Fukuma assures her they can mourn for her by destroying all humans. Suddenly, a bright light envelops the room as Thunder God Taikyoku descends. She orders Shikoku to kneel and admonishes her for allowing Kuusetsu to die. Shikoku states that she cannot forgive herself either and, suddenly, Taikyoku stabs Shikoku with a large sword. Taikyoku orders Shikoku to suffer as much as she can as she recovers and then not dwell on Kuusetsu any longer. Taikyoku then orders Jaku'un and Fukuma not to blame Shikoku any longer, although they observe silently that Taikyoku was the only one blaming her.
Sometime later, the seven Thunder Gods gather at a round table to discuss their plans. Taikyoku observes that, while they had planned to launch an all-out attack once all eight of them had gathered, this plan has now been impeded. Shikoku replies that, since the Anti-Demon Corps are more formidable then they thought, they will carry out their plans after the "Day of Purification". While Jaku'un and Fukuma are receptive to this decision, Rairen, Naruhim, and Jouryuu are displeased due to the delay it will cause. Jaku'un suggests a compromise: while they will still follow Shikoku's plan, they will allow the Thunder Gods' "Devotees" to attack the Anti-Demon Corps.
Narration explain that the "Devotees" are former humans who received power from the Thunder Gods and do their bidding.
Jaku'un further suggests that they promote the most accomplished Devotees to the rank of Thunder God, observing that Yumeji Shimomura, former Anti-Demon Corps Chief, is currently the most accomplished. Rairen agrees and Shikoku informs Rairen and Fukuma that she has something to tell them later. Pleased by the outcome of the meeting, Taikyoku says that their "Mother" wishes for one thousand executions in one day, and they will keep working towards that goal.
