A Chain That Grows Stronger (強くなる鎖, Tsuyoku naru Kusari) is the sixty-ninth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
As Kyouka Uzen brushes Yuuki Wakura's teeth for his Slave reward, the two discuss how lending allows Yuuki's base form to become stronger. Although this means lending has become more significant, Kyouka seems hesitant about the idea. Yuuki, however, enthusiastically suggests that Kyouka keep lending him more and more. Surprised and perturbed, Kyouka leaves. Yuuki goes to the beach to train.
At the 10th Unit headquarters, All the Chiefs, along with Yuuki, have gathered. Ren Yamashiro announces that everyone will be riding Yuuki, much to Kyouka's surprise. Yuuki is instructed to lie on the ground and the Chiefs sit on top of him one-by-one, while Kyouka watches in frustration.
Kyouka awakens in a rage, revealing it had all been a dream. Kyouka takes a walk on the beach, but she does not understand why her chest is aching. She discovers Yuuki in the middle of his training. He is pleased to see her as he wishes to discuss lending again. He takes back what he said earlier and, aside from emergencies, he only wants to focus on training with Kyouka in his base form. At first, he felt that lending was the only way to make himself stronger, but he insists that he wants to fight alongside her since she is the reason he can fight at all. Kyouka is overwhelmed by his confession. Yuuki also remarks that the boost he gets from lending isn't that great since he didn't even notice it until Kyouka mentioned it, and that training with Kyouka is better. Kyouka interrupts and proudly commends Yuuki for his realization.
The two engage in some training and Yuuki transforms into his Slave form. Kyouka grabs Yuuki's chain and, realizing it should be able to stretch further due to Yuuki's experience, she stretches it out and wraps it around a column of bamboo stems. Kyouka and Yuuki pull the chain in sync and destroy the column. Kyouka believes this technique may have some uses.
Back at their resort, Kyouka licks Yuuki's neck for his reward. She praises him, saying they have more freedom in battles, and Yuuki says he will keep doing his best. Kyouka turns Yuuki towards her and gives him an impassioned kiss.
Suddenly, Kyouka's phone rings. Yuuki recalls that one "trumpet" ring is an emergency. The trumpet rings twice more, for a total of three times. Kyouka urgently proclaims that this means there is an emergency regarding the Eight Thunder Gods.
