Ren's Shadow (恋の影, Koi no Kage) is the fifty-first chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
As the 7th Unit members sleep, Yuuki Wakura suddenly awakens and finds Nei Ookawamura in his bed, but still sleep. He deduces that she must have come over to his bed while still asleep and he tries to wake her up, but she ends up hugging him tightly.
The next morning, Nei profusely apologizes for going into Yuuki's bed, but Yuuki says the Eight Thunder Gods are to blame for their situation. Kyouka Uzen informs them that they will investigating the dorm's surroundings and, thus, using Slave: Sparkling Stars. Nei happily agrees and transforms Yuuki after Kyouka activates Slave. Yuuki begins to scan the area and Kyouka advises that he should look for anything suspicious. Since one of the Thunder Gods infiltrated them, she suspects there could be something near the dorm, but Yuuki finds nothing. Yuuki reverts back to normal and Nei rewards him by giving him a head pat. Yuuki clarifies that, although he saw nothing around the dorm, he felt as if something was watching them from above. The three look up and, suddenly, Ren Yamashiro descends and appears before them at incredible speed.
Ren informs them that she saw Yuuki change his form with Nei. She commends Kyouka for expanding the use of her Slave ability and asks what the conditions are for lending it. Kyouka says they are still experimenting, so she can't say anything for certain, but Ren insists that she share what she knows and orders Nei to go back her normal duties. Begrudgingly, Kyouka explains the conditions of her Slave lending, which greatly pleases Ren as she declares that she wants to try it too. However, Kyouka tells her that using Slave in succession is tiring for her and so she can't do it right away. Ren is disappointed, but content that she can make Yuuki "her slave". Kyouka angrily refutes her, proclaiming that Yuuki is her slave. Ren smiles and disregards Kyouka's outburst. She flies off, informing them she will be returning to the human world.
Once Ren is gone, an overwhelmed Yuuki is suddenly and seemingly embraced tenderly by Kyouka. However, she suddenly turns and grips Yuuki painfully. Furiously, she yells that she told him not make eye contact with Ren and now, as a result of his negligence, Ren has taken an interest in him. Yuuki apologizes, but Kyouka insists that she has to punish him. Once Kyouka is done, Yuuki asks what happens when Ren sets her eyes on someone. Kyouka replies that she will use him like a toy, citing Bell Tsukiyono as an example. Kyouka contemplates that if word of her Slave lending ability reaches the other chiefs they may have some hectic days ahead of them with the joint training sessions.
