Congregation of Commanders (組長集結, Kumichō Shūketsu) is the forty-sixth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
As Yuuki Wakura and Kyouka Uzen prepare for the Chief's meeting, Yuuki hurriedly laces up his boots. Kyouka advises him to not make eye contact with the commander, Ren Yamashiro, during the meeting. He asks if it is due to her ability, but Kyouka clarifies it is not and says it is merely because it would be bad if she took an interest in him.
Upon arriving at the 10th Unit, headquarters of the Anti-Demon Corps, Yuuki and Kyouka encounter Mira Kamiunten, who tauntingly tells Kyouka that she is late. Yuuki comments that Kyouka was right about not making eye contact with her, but Kyouka tells him she is not the commander. In fact, Mira is the chief of the 2nd Unit. Mira goes on to say that she heard about Kyouka getting her revenge in Kidoumaru, but advises her to not go senile. The two aggressively close in to each other, face-to-face. Mira says she is much stronger than Kyouka and will become the next commander, but Kyouka insists that she will be the next commander. Mira then turns to Yuuki and gives him an intense look saying he is going to die. She kneels down and ties up one of his boot laces that have come loose, advising that, in Mato, the slightest slip-up could be dangerous. Overwhelmed, Yuuki thanks Mira and she goes ahead inside the building. Kyouka wonders if Mira was waiting for her while Yuuki feverishly makes sure the rest of his appearance is fine.
Inside the 10th Unit headquarters, Yuuki remarks at how great it looks and that the cleaning must be difficult. Kyouka comments that it helps that the 10th Unit has three gates. The two then encounter Bell Tsukiyono, Chief of the 3rd Unit, who seems distressed. When Kyouka asks if she is going into the conference room, Bell bursts into tears lamenting that the commander will likely ridicule her for the 3rd Unit's defeat at the hands of the Eight Thunder Gods. Kyouka tries to encourage her by stating that Bell's Laughing Juroujin is a great ability.
The three make their way to the conference room and enter, where they find Tenka Izumo, Konomi Tatara, Chief of the 1st Unit, Yakumo Ezo, Chief of the 5th Unit, Fubuki Azuma, Chief of the 9th Unit, and Varvara Pilipenko, Chief of the 8th Unit. Yuuki is amazed that some of the chiefs appear to be high-schoolers. Kyouka strikes Yuuki and informs him that the commander has arrived. The commander, Ren Yamashiro, crosses the conference table on a floating throne. Despite Kyouka's warning, Yuuki takes a quick peek at Ren who immediately meets his gaze with an intensely stern look. Yuuki panics, but Ren's scowl quickly fades and, with a cheerful attitude, she announces the beginning of the Chiefs' Assembly.
