Quickening (胎動, Taidō) is the forty-third chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
Nei Ookawamura welcomes Kyouka Uzen and Yuuki Wakura back as they return to the 7th Unit dorm. Kyouka commends Nei for her work with communications, but Nei says she grew anxious when she couldn't see inside the caves. Nei suggests Kyouka go to the hot springs to relieve her fatigue and Kyouka does so. Nei informs Yuuki, who is still in his Slave form, that she has prepared some food for him and he thanks her. However, Yuuki seems distracted, prompting Nei to ask what is wrong. He replies that most of the 6th and 7th Units were hospitalized due to him, but Nei reassures him that the Anti-Demon Corps has great healers and they should all be healed in a few days. Yuuki is still despondent, but Nei tells him that, if something were to happen, he would have to work hard for the others who are healing. As his superior, Nei orders him to not let his anxiety build up and rest when he needs to. This cheers Yuuki up and he thanks her.
Later, Kyouka returns from the hot springs and Yuuki informs her that someone came to take Nei to the 10th Unit. Kyouka confirms that she has been taken to give her report as the "eye" of the 7th Unit. Kyouka deactivates Slave and Yuuki turns back to normal. The reward activates and Kyouka grabs Yuuki's hand, taking him to her room. Yuuki lies on Kyouka's bed in his underwear and Kyouka strips down to her underwear as well. Kyouka climbs on top of Yuuki and tells him they are going to sleep together as this is evidently the reward. Kyouka understands that Yuuki needs to rest, but is perturbed that it has to be with them in their underwear. Kyouka kisses him, lies down and then pulls him to face her, calling him a pervert. Overwhelmed, Yuuki contemplates that he will not be able to sleep.
At the Eight Thunder Gods' hideout, Naon Yuno and Koko Zenibako lie on the ground, still injured and unconscious. Rairen asks Shikoku why she brought two humans. Shikoku replies that she wanted to be sure since "it" had rejected food earlier, but Rairen says she is pampering it. Jouryuu calls Kuusetsu, a large egg-like creature, which appears before them. Kuusetsu examines Naon and Koko while the others watch, and then, suddenly, Kuusetsu grabs and devours Naon. Shikoku observes that it liked them, just as she expected. Rairen remarks that Kuusetsu is the only god who needs food to develop and Shikoku adds that that should make it a strong god. Kuusetsu devours Koko as well, making Jouryuu wonder if it will be okay absorbing so much. Kuusetsu retracts its arms and legs and begins to incubate. Rairen and Shikoku remark that Naon and Koko will become part of the god Kuusetsu and become living batteries for it for eternity. Jouryuu comments that there are now only two left to complete the Eight Thunder Gods, and Rairen adds that he is looking for to delivering divine punishment to the humans. Shikoku wonders if it would be okay to leave a few humans alive, confirming to Rairen that there is one she has her eyes on.
