Instant Battles (刹那の攻防戦, Setsuna no Kōbō-sen) is the thirty-fifth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
Himari Azuma and Yachiho Azuma prepare to face off against Akura and a team of Shuuki. Yachiho remarks that, although Himari performed well in the interunit matches, she is still inexperienced and should follow Yachiho's orders, which she reluctantly agrees to. Himari turns her arm into a machine gun and fires at the Shuuki. Wielding a spear, Akura spins it around and deflects the bullets. As Akura prepares to a flurry of arrows with its other arms, Yachiho activates her Golden Hour, stopping time for five seconds. While time is stopped, Yachiho closes in Akura, raises a gun to its head, and fires multiple rounds as Golden Hour expires. Akura resists during the onslaught, splitting Yachiho's clothes in half, but she manages to emerge uninjured.
However, Yachiho discovers that Himari has been caught and gravely injured by the other Shuuki and a Humanoid Shuuki and, thus, she activates Golden Hour's five-second rewind. Back to the instance in which Himari was firing her machine gun, Yachiho informs her that there are Shuuki hidden behind them. Naon Yuno watches from above, confused as to how Yachiho could know.
Narration explains that Naon's Peach ability, Hidden Beauty, allows her to pass through and hide in solid objects.
A group of Shuuki emerge from the ground behind Himari and Yachiho, and Himari turns around to blast them with her machine gun. Yachiho activates her Golden Hour again, pausing time for five seconds. She tries to locate the Humanoid Shuuki, but is unable to locate her, deducing that Yachiho's warning must have put her on alert. Yachiho then sees that Akura has fired a flurry of arrows at Himari, which are now frozen in mid-air. She becomes frustrated that all of the Shuuki seem to want to attack Himari. As Golden Hour expires, Yachiho saves Himari from the arrows and then angrily orders her to stay behind her, although she is becoming exhausted from using Golden Hour.
Naon then attacks Yachiho from behind, but she does not activate Golden Hour again, realizing it would be pointless. However, Himari blocks Naon's attack by turning her arm into a shield, and then fires her gun at her. Himari tells Yachiho that she can tell she has been protecting her based on how much she is sweating. She then declares that it is her turn to protect her older sister.
