Sermon is the one-hundred-and-forty-first chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
At the election meeting, Kyouka warns the others they have become too greedy for Mato's resources and that they must not accept the Thunder Gods' proposal, citing her own experience with them and the Ooisawa incident as proof that they cannot come to a mutual understanding. Ren counters that is not necessary for them to come to a mutual understanding and they can engage in a simple give-and-take relationship. She also claims that, after fighting two of them, she believes that they can be defeated, if need be. Mira decries Ren's stance, saying it is too cold and that they must learn to understand the Thunder Gods. Riu comes to an understanding of the candidates positions, summarizing their attitudes towards the Thunder Gods and the Onmyou Agency.
Later, the Chiefs engage in a round of volley ball, Ren and Konomi on one side and Mira and Fubuki on the other, with Yuuki acting as the referee. As Ren makes the first serve, she asks Mira if she is tired from the debates, pointing out that being Commander will be even harder. Mira spikes the ball and replies that she will be fine, arguing that, while she may be bad at delicate work, she will rely on the other Chiefs to cover her weaknesses. Mira scores a point as Konomi fails to catch the ball, but Ren assures Konomi to not be so tense. Mira then argues that being good at everything might be bad, citing Ren's previous insistence at shouldering the Onmyou Agency on her own, and pointing out that it may be better to rely on others, which Fubuki agrees with. Ren commends Mira for discussing the current situation while also showing concern for her, leaving Mira surprised by her own prowess. Yuuki observes that Mira's kindness makes her a strong rival for Kyouka.
Meanwhile, Kyouka talks with Tenka and Varvara about the votes she can get. While Tenka and Varvara's votes for Kyouka are guaranteed, Ren herself has Reiko, Iori, and Bell's votes guaranteed, leaving Konomi, Yakumo, and Fubuki as the swing voters. Nevertheless, Kyouka states she will try to win over Ren's voters, citing her weight-training her experience with Reiko. Varvara claims that Kyouka shouldn't bother with Iori as she is a devout believer in Ren.
Later, Kyouka meets with Bell, who claims that she has decided firmly to vote for Ren. Kyouka points out that the two have had a difficult relationship in the past, but Bell argues that Ren was only tough on her to make her stronger and that she never went too far.
Elsewhere, Konomi, Yakumo, and Fubuki discuss their feelings about the election, with Yakumo leaning towards Ren while Konomi and Fubuki remain undecided. Varvaro then approaches them, asking for a moment of their time, and then activates her Pantheon, transporting the three to her church. Dressed in nun attire, Varavara orders them to take a seat and begins an hour-long sermon of Kyouka's virtues.
Meanwhile, Yuuki and Himari bathe in the hot springs together as Himari gives Yuukis his Slave reward after training with him. Somewhat flustered, Yuuki asks Himari if she should be training with the others instead. As she gets up and sits in his lap, Himari points out that the other Chiefs want to use her Learning ability for Slave lending, and so she must get used to it. As he stroke Himari's belly, Yuuki decides he will do all he can for the Chiefs, unaware of the fierce battle that awaits him in a matter of hours.
