The God's Proposition is the one-hundred-and-thirty-fourth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.

Summary[]

As Shikoku makes her proposition to Ren to coexist, Ren points out that the Gods had previously wanted to destroy humanity, but Shikoku explains that they've changed their minds. Shikoku then creates a crater in the ground between them, which begins to fill with hot water. Shikoku then disrobes and enters the pool, explaining it is "hot spring diplomacy", but Ren refuses her offer to join her. Regardless, Shikoku continues the discussion.

Shikoku further explains that Mato is the Gods' dominion and that they decided to destroy humanity after they ventured into it. However, Shikoku claims the Gods have become more reluctant after the Anti-Demon Corps destroyed three of them and Ren herself nearly destroyed Shikoku and Jouryuu. Ren asks what the Gods want in return and Shikoku explains that they wish for humanity to worship and build shrines to them. In return, the Gods offer free use of Mato's resources, including the Shuuki and Peaches. Ren is intrigued, realizing that this proposition aligns with her personal goals. She still suspects a trap, but is determined that she will eliminate any traps the Gods set. Shikoku exits the hot spring and tells Ren to talk it over with her colleagues, but Ren suddenly approaches her, realizing that the Shikoku before her is not her original body. Shikoku admits it, explaining that she needed to be cautious and her body dissolves into a dried up snake.

Later, the 7th Unit receives word of the Gods' proposition. Kyouka and Shushu do not trust the Gods and Kyouka says they will discuss it during the next Chiefs' Assembly.

Inside Yuuki's spirit world, Kuusetsu, Fukuma, and Rairen watch the events playing out on a projector. Kuusetsu observes that it is very unlike Shikoku to make such a proposition, with Fukuma and Rairen adding that they were sure Taikyoku would attack the Anti-Demon Corps out of sheer anger. Kuusetsu wonders how the humans will respond to the proposition.
