Lightning Kagura (雷神楽, Kaminari Kagura) is the one-hundred-and-seventeenth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
The 7th Unit and 8th Unit face off against Fukuma and Rairen. Fukuma begins to shapeshift, wondering if she should capture and torment the Anti-Demon Corps members with tentacles. Jenna shouts at them defiantly, and the Corps members charge the Thunder Gods.
Rairen shoots a barrage of fireballs at them and Fukuma delivers a series of fatal blows with her elongated sharpened limbs that tear the Corps members to shreds. However, Himari activates Golden Hour via Learning and turns back time five seconds, saving everyone. Now in her powered up form, Himari warns the others not to proceed and to not let the Thunder Gods coordinate. Kyouka realizes that Himari has turned back time and becomes unnerved by the danger the Thunder Gods present. Rairen and Fukuma prepare to attack, but Varvara steps and declares that they will have to split them up with each Unit handling one of the Thunder Gods.
As Fukuma attacks, Varvara activates her Pantheon ability, transporting Fukuma into it. Disturbed that she has been separated from Rairen, Fukuma becomes even more agitated as she feels a burning sensation all over her body. Suddenly, Varvara appears, joined by Prachi and Jenna, and informs Fukuma that she is the only one she brought into the Pantheon space. Varvara explains to Fukuma that those within the Pantheon "cathedral" suffer varying effects depending on their perception of Kyouka. She further explains that there are four levels:
1. Praise, which rewards people who respect or revere Kyouka by recovering their strength.
2. Sermon, which informs people who are oblivious or skeptical about Kyouka about her excellence.
3. Paladins, which subdues people who hold ill will towards Kyouka while also giving a power boost to those who respect Kyouka.
4. ??, which is so frightening that Varvara cannot put it into words.
Varvara goes on to explain that there is a limit to the number of people who can be in the cathedral and "Honesty", "Bravery", and "Kindness" are virtues that are rewarded within the cathedral.
Having listened to the whole explanation, Fukuma furiously cries out that it is tremendously inconvenient for infiltration types such as herself. Varvara clarifies that the Praise ability will not work on Fukuma since she holds ill will towards Kyouka. Fukuma realizes Varvara has done all this to receive a boost for the "Honesty" virtue. Fukuma asks Varvara what would happen if Kyouka entered the cathedral, and Varvara points out that Kyouka is already present via a large statue of her on the altar. Fukuma therefore surmises that the ability does not rely on Kyouka herself.
Having understood most of Varvara's explanation, Fukuma concludes that she simply needs to destroy Varvara to be free of the cathedral. Varvara declares that her "Paladins", Prachi and Jenna, have been assembled, and that she will give them the power of miracles that will destroy Fukuma.
