The Elite Soldiers of Mato (魔都の精兵たち, Mato no Seihei-tachi) is the one-hundredth chapter of the Mato Seihei no Slave manga.
Summary[]
At the Onmyou Agency, Ren Yamashiro observes as the leader of the agency fails to revive one of the Devotees, who perishes. The leader explains that the Eight Thunder Gods had implemented a countermeasure that makes the Devotees' bodies explode from within. Although the Onmyou Agency was able to heal the Devotee's body, her consciousness did not return. Furthermore, the leader points out the curse mark on the Devotee's head, the removal of which has proved impossible even with Tobera Azuma's assistance.
Meanwhile, Kyouka Uzen observes Yumeji Shimomura, the only survivor among the capture Devotees, who is still recovering. As Ren enters, Kyouka demands Yumeji to reveal some information about the Thunder Gods. As Kyouka grabs her hand, Yumeji moves finger, conveying a series of numbers by touch; 3-5-1-4-0. Ren determines that they are coordinates. She orders Kyouka to stay with Yumeji and for the Onmyou Agency to keep her alive at all costs.
In Japan, Ren meets with the Japanese prime minister and her staff, who are impressed that the Anti-Demon Corps suffered no casualties after the attack by the Devotees. Ren declares that they will defeat the Thunder Gods as long as the prime minister has no objections. The prime minister wonders if they could come to a peaceful agreement with the Gods, but her staff reminder her that they have never answered to them and have explicitly stated their intentions to destroy humanity. Thus, the prime minister agrees with Ren's plan.
At the 10th Unit Headquarters, Ren explains the situation to Bell Tsukiyono as the two bathe together. Bell asks that she be allowed to step down as Chief, believing she will be the first to be killed by the Thunder Gods. However, Ren refutes her, stating that there is no one aside from her who can hope to kill Bell. She demands Bell be more confident and forces a smile on her face as she grabs her cheeks.
Later, Ren, along with the Anti-Demon Corps Chiefs (minus Kyouka), and Yuuki Wakura and Himari Azuma, arrive at Yumeji's coordinates, presumably the location of the Thunder Gods' base. Ren explains that the exact coordinates are 155 meters below them and that she will break in to raid the base, with the other Chiefs following shortly afterwards. Konomi Tatara voices her concerns about Ren going in alone, but Ren assures her that this will allow her to go all out as she activates her Vairocana. However, Ren clarifies that she will also bring Yuuki with her so he can dig a hole to a base. Yuuki is concerned about going into his Slave: Killer Fang form again and some of the other Chiefs voice their objections as well. Regardless, Yuuki declares that he will do it. Thinking about his sister and the Humanoid Shuuki, he declares that there will never be peace of the Thunder Gods are not dealt with. With that, Yuuki changes into his Killer Fang form and begins the underground journey with Ren.
