Canopus (笑う寿老人(カノープス), Kanōpusu, lit. "Laughing Juroujin") is the unique power, which was granted to Bell Tsukiyono after eating a peach.

Description

The full capabilities of Canopus are unknown, but it can be used in both an "Attack Mode" and "Protect Mode".

Attack Mode

While in Attack Mode, Bell can manifest an orb of light from any tangible thing, be it living or inanimate, causing the target to shine in the process. This orb essentially represents that target's "life", and if Bell removes this light the target instantly crumbles to dust, ceasing to exist. As she can only remove the orb manually, Bell must be within close proximity to her target to do so and she can dissipate the light once it is removed. Her Attack Mode was noted as being potent enough to remove the "life" from Rairen in his true form, resulting in his defeat.

Protect Mode

Canopus' Protect Mode safeguards Bell's life. It enables her to regenerate from even life-threatening wounds such as those she received from Fukuma. It has been describe as an ability that will not let her die.

• Canopus is a star within the constellation Carina and is the second brightest star in the night sky.
• The ability's literal name refers to Jurōjin, the Taoist god of longevity, who is among the Seven Gods of Fortune.
